Friday Night Hoops is a sports related program guided to giving kids an alternative to running the streets and getting into trouble. Friday Night Hoops uses basketball as a way to relate to the youth of the community.
Currently there are three Friday Night Hoops programs:
Friday Night hoops at the Boys and Girls Club is run every first Friday of the month from 5 pm until 7 pm. This event is open to the members of the boys and girls club. Deputies are on hand to facilitate basketball activities. Kids in attendance are also treated to pizza. Pizza is limited to those who participate in the Friday Night Hoops activities however.
Friday Night Hoops at Foothill Ranch Middle School is run every second Friday of the month from 3:30 pm until 5:30 pm. This event is open to the kids of Foothill Ranch Middle School. This program is designed to offer students of the school a positive after school alternative. Kids are invited to hang out in the gym and play basketball or other organized sports activities with Deputies. This is a safe and welcoming environment.
Friday Night Hoops at the Family Life Center is run every Friday Night from 7 pm until 9 pm. This event is open to all kids from the ages of 12-18. Parents are encouraged to bring their kids to a safe and positive environment. Kids are split up into groups based on age and allowed to engage in all sorts of fun basketball activities. SAL encourages parents to stay and be involved. Deputies are on hand every week to interact with the kids and often times will put on their shorts and show off their skills.
