Cooking with SAL is a new and exciting program run through the Boys and Girls Club. SAL Deputies work with a group of teenagers each week who want to learn or improve their cooking skills. SAL Deputies give the students a new item to cook or bake each week. The students are then given the ingredients, recipes and tools needed to make the item of the week.
Students learn what it takes to prepare and cook food. They also learn the value of team work. Students are split up into two teams and must work together to get their dish completed. After their food has been made they have a taste test to see who was able to work together best and follow the directions given.
